any such thing? im a huge pelt hunter and the vmaxes if not placed correctly kill me! the point of a 204 is speed and internal damage but if exiting a carcass it does some damage. instead of reloading to reduce velocity ide like to launch shells thatll be quick and unstoppable that create pinholes. if any experience please share your bullet, grains, powder. barrel length of 26" here....sometimes at night you gotta take what they give ya...

FMJ is not a good hunting bullet. You will wound and lose more animals than you will retrieve. The bullet will create a pin hole all the way through and be unstoppable until the ricochet hits something else. The coyote how ever will be unstoppable as he runs off.

If you want to save fur, use the Berger 35 gr HP. Very fur friendly bullet.

Fmj can actually leave big holes exitin as the bullet starts to yaw or tumble in the animal the rear of the bullet comes apart. A solid bullet will pencil right thru but not the best for hunting yotes and dont know of any makers for .204. Try the bergers.

or download that 204 to a 5mm rimfire velocity or so.

Give berger bullets a call, a few years back I started shooting foxes with the 30gr in a 17 rem and the exit hole was silver dollar size. I contacted berger and Walt Berger advised me to drop to a 20gr max expansion and it worked like he said it would. It went in and never came out.

Are you shooting the 32gr Vmax or the 40gr Vmax? If it is the 40 then drop to the 32gr. If it is the 32gr then i'm not sure. I tried getting the Varmint Grenades to work out of my rifle and they just didn't shoot a decent enough group that I would have been comfortable with hunting. My buddy's friend had a rifle that would shoot them into tiny 5 shot groups but my rifle just wouldn't shoot them. They left no exits on anything he shot with them.
