204 Ruger ammo

Has anyone tried the new 30 GR bullets from hornady? They say it's equivalent volumetrically to a 40 grain bullet.

What about the 45 GR. I hear about the 40 GR but never the 45 GR. Maybe because most rifles cant shoot it well being that most .204's are a 1 in 12 rifling.

I roll my own using the 45 gr softpoint at about 3500 fps in my 700 sps and it shoots inside a dime if I do my part

I dont know about wanting a .17. Id think that that 30 gr would shoot around 4300 in a 204. May be fun to see.

might also turn it into a barrel burner too! Also wind factor thats a light bullet. Got a friend shooting a .17rem cant be too windy especially for anything beyond 150 maybe 200.

I use the 45 gr softpoint with 26.0 grains of Varget. Don't have a chrony so I don't know what velocity I'm getting. In my 1:12 CZ it shoots right about MOA. Haven't had a chance to use it on coyotes yet but took a 54 lb javelina with it a couple of months ago. The bullet went through foreleg on its way into the chest, hit the heart, and stopped at the inside of the ribs on the far side. Mushroomed to about 0.32". Recovered bullet weighed about 25 grains as I recall.
