I have a Mauser 98 rebarreled in 22-243 Winchester...I am having a little trouble to get it to shoot good groups. I'm using RL-25, Hornady 75 A-Max. I have read that some people are using RL-22,Varget and other powder. The best I have gotten since I started reloading and testing was 2-3" groups. Barrel is a 26" Shilen CM 1-8 twist..What are you guys useing for powder and charge weights ? All information is welcome...Thank you

I shot Boones rifle... on that other post... what a shooter it was... got to stay with an 8 twist barrel to shoot those heavier bullets...and heavier bullets is what you want... that is what makes that caliber shine... your on the right track... keep at it and you'll find the Holy Grail...

I just started working on loads for my 22-243 AI this weekend. I am shooting 80gr.Bergers and RL-25. My last two 3 shot groups were .174" and .137" You will definately want to use a 8 twist and take advantage of the heavier bullets. I have 500 of the Sierra 77 grainers for sale in the classifieds for a very reasonable price.

OH NO......I just noticed that I made a mispost....I said that i was using a 1-8 twist...Well, I am using a 1-9 twist barrel..Sorry about that..

Are msr22243 and cyotekler one in the same? Little confused. Either way the 75gr Amax should be fine in the 1 in 9 twist 22-243 Win.

Sure wish I'd made a point to shoot mine more in the off season this year. I'm limited to .22 centerfires where I live and it's amazing me how well this cartridge does in the wind with an 80gr VLD. I'm still seeing impacts too which is a pleasant surprise.

tonyb- that's some awesone shooting.
