22-250 brass to 22 Creedmoor

Tried something today that while I have not heard or found where someone has actually done this I did find precedence.
I saw where someone had taken 22-250 brass and used Cream of Wheat and pistol powder to form to 6.5 Creedmoor

It seemed to me that if that was possible why could I not just shoot 22-250 ammo thru my 22 Creedmoor.
So I took 10 Nosler once fired cases simply neck sized and loaded a starting charge of H4831 using 22-250 Ackley fast twist data .Then seated 85 gr Barnes Matchburners .030 into the lands to hold the case tight against the bolt face and went to the range and shot 5 of them thru the chronograph.

As you can see it seemed to be a mild load which I expected.

I was pretty surprised that it shot to the same POI at 100 yards as the normal load going 600 fps faster

It looks very similar to a 22/250 AI, with a few slight alterations. I bet it is going to be a dandy of a cartridge.

Let us know how it works out.

I formed 6.5x47 lapua from Remington 22/250 cases, had to trim the necks of course, fire formed with cream of wheat and bullseye in my garage. The results are exceptional accuracy.

I have used the Cream of Wheat method. It has worked for me. Its a good way to form your brass and not waste bullets. You just have to find that sweet spot with the powder so it forms your brass all the way..

I was thinking of doing the same thing. Taking my 22-250 Brass and forming it to 22 Creedmoor but was worried about the case length difference. That in fire forming it would shorten further. The 22-250 case length is 1.912 and the 22 Creedmoor is 1.920. What Case length did you end up with? Did it shorten more or stay the same length. The trim length on the 22 Creedmoor is 1.910. Let me know what your found as I have a lot of 22-250 brass and I'm thinking of building a new rifle in 22 Creedmoor.
