22-250 loading question

Large rifle primer,H-380 is also a good one to try. What rifle do you have?
Another thing depending on what your twist rate is I would start with something in the 50 grain bullet range kind of in the middle.
What works best in MY savage is H-380 39.0 grs. pushing a 50 gr. V-max, W-W cases and primers.

I was just able to get my 22-250 to shoot after really fighting with it for several months. My best group was with this load:

Remington brass
CCI-200 primers (I want to try the CCI BR's)
36 grains of Varget
52 grain Sierra BTHP

Loading them 0.010" off of the lands.
H-380 is a good choice for powder, but I hear it is kind of dirty.
Depending on the rifle and especially the rate of twist will make the difference on the grain of bullet that it will like; my Rem700 is 1:14" and will not digest anything over 53 grains giving me the accuracy that I demand; and seems to dislike Hornady's for some reason. I got good sub MOA groups out of Berger (35.5 grains of Varget), and even sub MOA out of the Hornady's, but they were a full 1/2" of a wider spread than the Sierra's. Hope this helps.
OH! Moly coated bullets are a pain (JMO).

any large rifle, or mag rifle will work in a pinch.

I would look at IMR-4895. SHoots very good for my dad and I in 3 different 22-250's.

Around 35g of IMR-4895 seems to be the magic number with 40's, 50's, and 55's. 1/2-3/4" at 100 yards and pretty good velocity, 4000fps for 40's, 3700fps for 50's, and 3675fps for 55's.

H380 is picky as hel in our rifles. Very small nodes to work with. Very temp sensitive. I dont recomend it.

For top velocity, W760 w/50's and 55's is worth looking into. I dont get as good as accuracy as 4895, but get a good 100-150fps gain over 4895, and still 3/4"-1" at 100 yards.

As others have said Large Rifle primers.

My OLD Ruger has a 1-14 twist and it shoots the Sierra 52 Gr HPBT Match, with 35.5 of N140 with a CCI 200 primers in Winchester brass into LESS than a 3/8 circle at 100 YDs.5 shot groups..
It also likes the Sierra 63 GR SMP's with 35.0 GR of IMR 4064, CCI 200 Primers in Winchester Brass. into Less than a 1/2 Circle and as small as 5/16 Circle 5 shot groups.

All depends on if I do my part.

I know you guys wont believe it without proof but that is your problem.
