22 conversion for ARs

Do some research first. There's a couple that are fairly cheap and good, and there are a couple expensive ones that are constant headaches.

Here's a couple reviews:

Ciener 22LR Conversion Kit AR15

Olympic Arms RimFire Adapter (RFA) Range Report

I don't own one, so I can't comment or answer real questions.

My ciener has been nearly flawless. I now have it in an upper built with a 1-16 twist barrel off of a cz 22 hornet that was rechambered to 223. The accuracy is phenominal, way better than I expected. It also shot really well in my 1-9 carbine, but not so well in a 1-8 twist barrel. The ammo you shoot makes a big difference in accuracy also. But it does function with everything from hyper velocity to subsonics perfectly. Two friends with the cmmg units have had the same results. But as always, ymmv.

Go with a CMMG SS or a spikes. Palmeto state seems to have the best deal on conversions right now. What twist is your barrel? You need a realy slow twist for the .22 to get any type of accuracy. Ciener makes a great coversion but the owner is an A-hole and customer service is zero.

Yeah, but even my 10-22 with a match barrel is like that. It even shoots some "cheap" stuff better than some "match".
They're almost all funny like that.

I have a dedicated Spikes 22lr upper. Love it, I have a CMMG conversion and it runs great. We ran 3-400 rounds through it last weekend and had only one or two FTE's.

Brownells has a CMMG kit with three Blackdog 26 round mags for $200.

I love my CMMG stainless kit. Runs federal bulk and CCI perfect. I ran some remington yellow/green box through and didn't have a problem with function but it wasn't the greatest on accuracy.

It holds 2.5" @ 50 yards with CCI ammo out of my 1:9 twist bushmaster heavy 16" barrel. And that was a full 25 mag.

Yeah, stay away from the Ceiner kit. Too hard to get parts when it breaks, and it will break. The Warranty sucks also. Too many other good kits out there now. JM2C

I just got an Oly flyer today, and they're out with an entire 22LR upper assembly.

Quote:We are not talking about a new upper conversion here; we are talking about a whole new lineup of dedicated AR's FOUR new firearms to be specific, and conversion uppers as well. Take a look below at all the details.

If you're interested in seeing the flyer, PM me with your e-mail and I'll forward it.

Bought the Target Master conversion last week and have run approx. 200 rounds of Federal through it with no problems. Very happy with the performance.

I bought the one Brownells is offering. The kit comes with 3 (26) round mags all for $199. Mine shoots the Federal ammo with no problems but the CCI mini mags, and Remingtons misfire. The Remingtons are awful but I have the same problems out my Ruger 22 pistol and Marlin rifles also. To me Remmington is the worst ammo made as far as 22 ammo goes.

I just got a new Colt AR in .22LR and it's the most fun i ever had with clothes on! For $525 i didn't think it was worth screwing around with conversions, it is finiky to ammo though, remingtons suck in it but winchesters worked great.
