first of all let me say that I don't reccomend the use of a .22LR for coyote hunting, however they will kill a coyote at close range,, say 40 yards and under,, the shot placement must be exactly on the money(boileroom) for a swift , clean kill.
As far as the .22LR's range, YES it can deflect and is capable of 1 1/2 mile range thats why I like the 17HMR, the 17 grn bullet will explode on contact and no deflection will occur or it will be minamull.
