First off, you're about to make the same mistake that most people do when using a 22lr for coyotes, and is the reason so many people say a 22 is too light for coyotes. DO NOT USE STINGERS. The stingers and other hyper velocity 22lrs use a very light hollow point bullet that is designed to fully expand inside a squirells head. The bullets have no penetration and only piss-off a coyote. You need to use a round nose bullet that will get some penetration. And no, I'm not just guessing. Back about 1980 when the hyper velocity 22's were all the rage I shot a mangy coyote and filled him full of holes with different 22's. The best penetration was from high velocity solid points. The hyper velocity bullets were worthless. I have killed many coyotes with a 22lr and it always worked just fine. Why is it that on big game we always preach proper shot placement, only take shots in range, make sure of a clean kill etc., and with coyotes you should just start slinging lead and hope for a hit, maybe you'll hit him in the leg so he'll slow down for the rest of your shots. If you shoot a coyote with a proper 22lr bullet, in decent range, and put the bullet in the proper place, a coyote will die quite nicely. If you want to just sling lead from any angle and any range like most coyote hunters then you may need a 22 centerfire. Let me repeat once more, DON'T USE STINGERS.
