Here is a load that shoots sweet out of my Ruger 77/22 Hornet.

11.5gr H110
CCI SR primers
36gr Varmint Grenades
Win Cases

1.791 COAL

Had trouble finding any load data for hornet and BVG so hope this saves you a lot of powder, primer, bullets and time.

Did you try pistol primers when you were testing your loads? This made huge improvement in accuracy in my loads . Success with Hornets for me started when I discovered Lee Collet Neck Sizing dies . My process is as follows:

Neck Size with Lee Collet
Trim if needed
Size body with Redding Body die if needed
Rem 5 1/2 primers
AA1680 or Lil-Gun
Crimp Bullet with Lee Factory Crimp die

The Nozler 40gr BT shoots well in both of my hornets and I have had very good luck with Midway Dogtown 50gr Soft Points.

I have a Contender Carbine and a Savage Model 40.Both allow me to seat the bullet out to the rifling . Something you cannot do with a Ruger because of the Magazine.

No, I have not tried pistol primers in my Hornet. The above load does less then .5 for 5 shots and that is plenty good for crows and rabbits

May try pistol primers in the future.

458Win, it looks like you have found a load that works in YOUR rifle and that is what its all about.

I have found WSP's, Lil Gun and 34gr. Varmint Extremes work the best in my Cooper. Like you, I have found the sub 40gr. bullets to do best.

Love the Hornet. It may be old fashioned but I use it a lot on 100-150 yd. PD's with great results.
