Ladies and Gentlemen,

I am looking for a top-notch 22 lr. handgun.

I have owned ruger mk 11, browning buckmark.

Is/are there any guns I am over looking?

I have a beautiful 6 inch Ruger Super blackhawk in 22 cal. It also came with a 22 magnum cylinder which is very easy to change over to. No tools needed. Very accurate

They have been named as far as I'm concerned...The Ruger MkII is the semi-auto I am in love with, and the Single Six is my second choice...

Some will mention the Sig Trailside, the Beretta Neos, the Buckmark and others...but Bang for the buck, the Ruger guns are very hard to beat.

I just discovered the S&W 617 K-22. 6 1/2 barrel and a ten shot cylinder. Check it out. It's top notch, but S&W seems to thinks so too, it's about $600.

Another vote here for the S&W 617! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grinning-smiley-003.gif
Absolute Quality! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grinning-smiley-003.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grinning-smiley-003.gif

Mine is the 6", 10-shot version.
I did do a wee bit of polishing to the workings /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif .....

I must admit, I shoot my Ruger MkII 22/45 much more often... But... When I want to pick up a really fine piece... I go for the 617! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Try the 617!
You'll love it!! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grinning-smiley-003.gif

A vote for the S&W 617!! When it first came out I snapped one up right away.

It matches my S&W 686 with 8 3/8" barrel. Sweet!!

I vote for S&W 617. Mine has the all steel cylinder. I believe the ten shot used to be made with an aluminum, I do not know if it still is. Mine is the six shot, with a six inch barrel. Very accurate. Gun show used, $275. Great buy, great gun. Butcher

TOP NOTCH....here ya go.....
If you are looking for pure accuracy a Hammerli can't be beat....that's the reason most Olympic athletes are using them. An less expensive alternative might be a Benelli MP90S or MP95E if you want 9 round mags. The Benelli is priced about the same as a Browning Buckmark and a little more than a stainless Ruger Mark II. The Hammerli unfortunately you will need to shell out about an extra grand. Also if you are looking used they were purcased under a lot of manufacturer's logos such as Beeman, Walther, Unique, Sig and Mandall.

I love my Dan Wesson, silhouette model but a Freedom Arms sure would be nice, if I had the money.
Then there's the Anschutz Exemplar (not sure if they still make them) and for the money my Contender is hard to beat for accuracy with Wolf Match Target ammo.

I haven't been without a S&W Model 41 since back in the early 70's. The Smith 41 is the best 22 lr Semi-Auto on the market. My vote goes for the Model 41 /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/ooo.gif

The cylinders on the 10-shot 617's have been stainless for a number of years now. (Mine is stainless and I've had it 2 or 3 years.)

For a number of years now, they have also been drilled and tapped for scopes. (You can see the two holes on the underside of the top strap if you're checking for the drill & tap.)

I sold my super single six to my buddy. Never liked it that much. Don't like SS revolvers and the grip was too big for what it was IMHO. And don't get me wrong, I really like Ruger revolvers, but the little SSS never quite measured up to my Colt Peacemaker. The .22 long has a slight drag mark on the cylinder, and the 22 mag is still in the original box unfired---2MG
