I've been primarilly using Win.super x 40gr.& Fed. 50 jhp
in my 22 mag for every thing except coyote.
I just saw that cci has a 40 gr.SLHP.It's a segmented hollow point that breaks into three sections on impact to creat a larger wound channel for bigger game.
Has anyone shot these and what were the results.
Thanks,Bob.

That segmentation also limits penetration and IMHO would not be a good thing for coyote size game with such a small cartridge.

Thanks GC, im not looking to use this on anything larger than coons/fox.Ill use my cz223 for coyotes.I had not seen these before and was wondering how the preform.

Stick with the winchesters. I have tried every load for a .22 mag and they work the best. Excellent accuracy and penetration. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grinning-smiley-003.gif

Winchester 40 gr. JHP's work for me as well. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grinning-smiley-003.gif

Sounds to me like those are .22 mags based off of the QUIK Shok .22 lr from CCI. I have never had as much luck with any other shell for planting Ground squirrels with a .22LR. I cant tell you how the .22 Mag version works But Id guess its good. Thanks for pointing this out.. I need to try a box with the Old Marlin... and give em a try !

When I had a .22 Mag. I used to shoot the 34 grain Winchester HP for groundhogs. It was very effective on them, but I would be reluctant to try one on a coyote, because they expanded so well on the groundhogs. They should work well on coons, too. They are not quite as accurate as the 33 grain Vmax, but were cheaper when I was buying them.
