OK 340, 840, 325...These are an inexpensive rifle, but they seem to have a following. I have owned 3 and I now have 3 friends who have them, and love em...this is my fourth...scopeless as of this moment, but it will get the Weaver 3 to 9 x40, old steel tube...

I think I will just hold onto this one if it will group 1/4 min of coyote. I love the way they shoot, and now I will have the gun just like 3 of my friends. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif

I have an old Savage 340 in 22 Hornet that is a true tack driver. I usually carry it over my Bushmaster AR, Ruger 77 MK II 22-250, and several other great guns. I will never sell this baby. I've even thought about looking for another one in a differant caliber such as 222, or 223. If you ever decide to part with the 222. Please let me know.
Good shooting,

Alen

I was just looking at a couple of .22Hornets for sale at the auction...they are bringing 2 times what the .222s bring...guard yours well.

I have an 840 in 30-30 and shoot 125 pointy bullets out of it...it had the short barrel, last year I put a new 22" barrel on it...started getting some great accuracy from it, and better ballence, but its still a 150 yard gun. It is what I would use for lion hunting here in Colorado, if I ever get the chance to go...

The .222 is going to be my goto calling gun.

What scope do you have on your Hornet? Pics?

Scott,
I have a Weaver 4.5-II U.S.A. mounted on it. It's adjustable from 1.5 to 4.5 and clear as crystal. I got mine at a gun show several years ago for around $275.00. I saw one on gunsamerica.com for over $600.00.
I am guarding it well.

I just picked one up recently. 840 in 222 Rem,the stock has been replaced by a Fajen MC style so it brings my eye up level with the scope with a good cheek weld. It's a great shooter out to 200yds and will be taking it as a backup gun. I mounted a Weaver K-1.5 due to the rings I had, picked up another set of rings and hogged out enough metal to mount a modern scope and have a Weaver Grand Slam 4.74x on it. I'll be getting it sighted in this weekend.

I use to have a 340 in .222 and loved that gun. Killed lots of coyotes with it. I wish I would have never sold it. Kick myself everyday for it.

If anyone with a 340 needs a Weaver side scope mount let me know. I have one with rings laying around. Will sell for cheap.
