223 and 243 WSSM to 25WSSM

I am currently saving up to order a 25WSSM upper for one of my lowers. I only have about 200 peices of 25 brass but have about 800 peices of 223 and 243 WSSM brass. Is it possible to resize these to the 25 caliber?

If so what would I need to do it and what changes in life expectance or strength should I expect in the brass?

Thanks for the imput. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grinning-smiley-003.gif

Yes, you can use the other brass. I have never used the .223 WSSM brass but have used plenty of the .243 WSSM as .25 WSSM brass.

I have not had any of the Federal brass necked up to .25 WSSM fail yet, so I can't really say what the life expectancy will be.

The only difference between the .25 and the other two is the 2* difference in shoulder angle. The .25 is 30*, the .223 and .243 are 28*. Just pass it through the full-length sizing die and you are good to go.

223WSSM up to 25WSSM works just fine. Use an expander die & mandrel or else a tapered expander in the FL die with proper lube inside neck.

Tarry - you can, but I can see a differance between the 243WSSM resized and 25WSSM new or once fired in group size.

I bought 500 of the 25WSSM..........I will use the 243 brass only when I have to.

You would need to measure the neck wall thickness of the original 25 brass, and the reformed 223 or 243 brass, to see if the neck is laying down in the chamber. Depending on how Win engineered the necks, the 223 expanded could be a lot thinner than the original 25. I will take a look at some brass today and see.

I got around 200 pieces of winchester 223 wssm brass. 100 or 150 rounds still sealed, the others are once fired.
PM me if interested.
