223 Hornady Superformance 53gr Vmax Real Ballistics

I don't own a chronograph and was wondering if anyone has run these through one out of an 18" barrel. My new DTech really likes these and I'm trying to plug the mv into the SpotOn software for a ballistics table. Sorry if this should be in the Ammo section, but that seems to be mostly reloading

I haven't chrono'd those but I have a few superformance loads in 204...according to my chrono they were just shy of 400fps slower than the box says! Box=4225 reality =3867avg for the 32 gr vmax load, this was a 22" barrel so I was pretty dissapointed

All the superformance ammo is tested with a 24 inch barrel so your 18 inch barrel is probably killin the velocity. Your probably losing 300 fps but you will never know without a chrono.

That is impressive. I got around 3080 out of my 16" Ruger. Is that a chrome lined or moly barrel or something? These are running about 130-180 Fps faster than the regular Hornady 55g Vmax. So that's definitely an improvement for a 16inch barrel. At 2 grains less per bullet mind you.

A chronograph will really wake you up. I chronographed some Winchester white box 22-250's that were advertised at 4000 fps. My chrony showed them at 3750-3800, and that was out of a 24 inch barrel. I have often suspected that factory ballistics were always on the "too fast" side.
