223 Subsonic recipe Best bullet choice

I planning to load some subsonic ammo for my Predator pursuit. I intend to buy powder and bullets special for this load. My barrel is 16" 1-8". What is the best bullet for this? Powder info would be helpful. Trail Boss is common.
Thanks
ZZ

I have some loaded using 55gr and a compressed load of trail boss. works well in my savage axis.
though with a 1:8 twist, i'd use a 69gr bullet, maybe try a little more heavy to see if it stabilizes.

Load the heavy bullets. Right now the 75 gr Hornady is the longest I know of that can be loaded into a magazine and still work.

I'm going to bass pro today to get sme bullets and powder

Why do you want a subsonic 223? what do you plan on using it for? They are worth less!!!
Take my advise it is a waste of components. You could do a reduced load with Blue Dot,,they are not bad...

Plinking,Hunting rats and rabbits at night. Armadillo, etc

I have a 20" predator pursuit and its not the rifle for subsonic loads. But, I do like using subsonic in the 223 for fun & pests and the 223 is one of my favorite cases. In that case I use a Rem 700 or T/C Contender or Encore.

Using your key word subsonic here is one I use. My own home cast 55gr fn sized & checked to .226 over 2.5 grns of Tite Grp sparked by a WSR primer.

Next favorite is 50 grn jacketed over 11.5 grns Blue Dot shoots great but it is not subsonic.

Be careful with subsonic. Its possible to stick a bullet in the bore.

Those would be good targets. Much as I love to reload I, personally, would go with a sub-sonic 22 round. They are right up their in weight and would run well through my rifles.

Are you running suppressed?

Greg

Trail Boss, H4895, Accurate 5744, IMR 4759, and others all have been pressure tested for reduced VELOCITY loads......Blue Dot never has. Just saying. One gun, with multiple loads carried has it's values. A 22LR is always a 22LR.

If you run Suppressed make sure you check a few rounds for stabilization before you just throw on the can and start shooting especially if you go with heavy bullets.

Another reason is I have a X-sight. A high power load causes the gun to kick and miss recording the hit.
