Their is a feild beside my house that is full of groundhogs. Their is also a few houses around and I dont want to disturb anyone becouse their will be alot of blasting. How will the remington subsonics perform at 50-100 yards.

If you are going to use a .22LR and use subsonics, stay with head shots at less than 50 yards. Grounhogs are a pretty tough little creature and I would recommend using something like a .22 mag, but close proximity to houses my prevent that. Most definately don't take a 100 yard shot with a subsonic. If you do manage to hit mister hog in the head, he'll probably just have a headache over it!

I have used those on tree squrrels. They work very well on them. I also use 22LR 60gr Aguila SSS. They are subsonic and pack a thump. If you can get the 60gr'ers, that would be my first choice. They are dirty shooters and are quietest in bolt actions. Darrin

I have a NEF 22lr that I use for cat control in town, my neighbors used to complain when they heard my pellet rifle go off, I’ve had no complaints in over 3 months since I started using the 22lr with subsonic! It’s even quieter with the CB Longs but I would not shoot over about 20 25 yards.

It depends on the length of your barrel and the round you are using. Are you shooting the "SSS"?
Out of my 24" Anschutz, it is as quite as my pellet gun. I shoot the Colibri out of it and the hammer is the loudest thing you hear. They have a reported 6lb of energy from the little 20gr @375fps.
Here is a pretty good deal on the "SSS"

I ordered 50 rounds of these (22LR 60gr Aguila SSS Solid) after reading your post and I'll be shooting them out of a stock bolt-action Marlin.

I shot the CCI subsonic from my suppresed rifles and from my non-suppressed 10/22. If it is under 50 yards I have found them to be more auccurate rounds then the standard CCI ammo. I haven't tried them on groundhogs, but I have used subsonic on p-dogs in upwards of 100 yards.

I have played with that aguila sss as well as colibri .22 ammo. Interesting thing, I shot at a hardwood 4X4 from close range with the sss and compaired with remington yellow jacket (I think that is what it was), the slow but heavy 60 gr. sss ammo penetrated about 3X deeper than the standard yellow jacket stuff. I didnt find its accuracy to be all that great though out in the gravel pit (shot from my 10/22 target model),and it seemed you could hear some inconsistency now and then in the sound of the report. The colibri and super colibri stuff was damn quiet when dropped by hand into the 10/22, but accuracy was pretty bad. Unacceptable really. I wonder if it would be better in a different rifle, different twist, etc... Fun stuff to play with though.

You are goingto loose some velocity out of your 10/22. I seem to to get the best results out of my bolt 22, granted it's an Anschutz.

Have any of you guys tried the Remington Sub-Sonics? What do you think?

i've never tried any remingtons i've heard so many bad things about them over at rimfirecentral.com that i haven't even bothered with them. I shoot wolf MT out of my savage BV. fairly quiet and very accurate. under 1/2" at 50.

Hey Freepop, Have you tried those sss yet? If so, what do ya think? They seem to shoot a little dirtier them CB's but I like them.

187, I have just recently moved and currently the sss's are misplaced, though I have a good idea where they are. Once I dig them out and get some free time to shoot I'll let you know what I think of them!
