I have read a couple of threads on here about the integrity of some bullets. I am going deer hunting on Sat Setp 21 and am wondering if anyone here has any experience w/ the Molly Coated Nosler Partition on deer. Questions like; Did it stay together, how did it do on the front shoulder, etc. etc.

Nosler partion bullets are outstanding. In 1995 I shot a nice 4x4 mulie that weighed about 240 lbs in Craig Colorado. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

I was using federal premium ammo in 243 with the 100 grain nosler partion.

The shot was alittle over 150 yards broadside. The bullet entered behind the left shoulder traversed through the lung and stopped before it exited the right shoulder. Bullet was entact and weighed 96 grains.

It don't get any better than that. So yes I have nothing but good things to say about partition bullets...... /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif

Good luck, you won't be dissapointed......

I've shot mule deer and antelope with my 6mm-06 which sends the 100 gr Nosler Partition out @ 3350 fps. Even running them this fast, I've never had one come apart. I rarely retrieve one, due to complete penetration. I'm not sure that its possible for a Partition to lose over 40-45% of its weight due to its construction. The leading 40% of a Partition is quite soft, however, and will start to expand immediately on contact. It's not unusual for the entrance wound diameter to be considerably larger than the exit wound.

Thanks for your info guys! I hope to have a pic on Monday if I get one(maybe I should say when I get one). Have used Federal Premiums before on a bear w/ devistating results and should have known better than to question their effectiveness!
