I have been using the TNT in different bullets weights/calibers for a while now. At higher velocities you get rapid expansion but at velocities under 2800fps I have been seeing exactly what you mention. I emailed Speer about it and the answer was evasive at best with no minimum velocity information given. The evidence I am seeing suggests you need some speed on them to get good reliable openings. It is an accurate bullet but as I want it to expand I am currently working with V-Max. Blitzking, and Nosler BT bullets. The Nosler lists minimum opening data.
If the Speer will not reliably open at lower speeds and just punches right through then I can shoot a much cheaper bullet that will do the same thing.
