25-06....75 Gr. V-Max Recipies??

Just set up for the 25-06 again and will punch out the ladder with 100 and 117 grain Hornady SP Interlock's.

Question is this, Have any of you loaded for 75's and if so what were the results and could you share a couple starter recipies with me?? /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/confused1.gif

The 100 and 117's will be loaded with both IMR-4350 and 4198 for the trials. Thinking I would be better served by a powder for the 75's like 4064 but I thought i'd get some input first. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grinning-smiley-006.gif

Thanks for any thoughts, /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/ooo.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grinning-smiley-003.gif Dave

I have a rem 700 mountain rifle that shoots the 75gr v-max vary well. clover leaf holes at 100 yrds. I will look up load recipe when I get home and reply.

Sorry, I don't have a 75 gr. VMax load, but 85 gr. Noslers
are scary accurate in my Tikka M695, 25-06 Rem. And they
are violent expansion bullets on nuisance rabbits, and
feral cats /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif If interested, let me know. I don't
recall the load specifics, but I remember the velocity
was decent, and the accuracy is excellent. Three rabbits,
and a feral cat, shot out of my dining room window, have
experienced major tissue loss /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/crazy.gif This round is more
like red fog, than red mist! It gives "dispatched with
extreme prejudice", new meaning.

Hey grunter I was just thinking about posting that same question I have a Remington 700 with a shilen barrel chambered din 25-06AI. I have shot about 800 rounds loaded with 100 grain sierra HPBT match bullets driven by 57 grains of 4831sc The velocity is 3344 fps. my longest shot with it so far was a prairie dog @ 1100 yards. the problem with these match bullets is they will not open up I have even shot clean through a crow once and it flew about 30 yards before it died in mid air.So I am also looking for a bullet that will do a little more carnage when it reaches the target.if you want to try some of the sierra bullets pm me I will sell you a box or 2.

I'm shooting the 75gr V-Max in two different 25-06's; Ruger VT and Rem. CDL and both shoot tight groups with 50.5gr of RL15 and a CCI BR2 primer. Don't know how they'll do in your gun. They sure make a mess on a whitetail deer with a rib shot.

I've been loading the hornady 75 gr bullets both in HP and v-max. I like the HP's better. Powder was 4350 i believe. I'll get specifics when i get home.

75 gr V maxes and 49 gr of IMR 4320........awesome in my 1 in 10 twist 24 inch bull barrelled 25-06. This load is slightly less than published maximum.

75gr v-max Im using 52gr of imr 4064 with a o.a.l. of 3.20 with a win wlr primer. crono at 3,450 fps vary tight groups
rem mod 700 mountain rifle

Not 75 but 85 gr barnes x bullets
I thought I would try those in my Ruger #1 in 25-06 gettting them to group rite around a inch and I am using 59.0 gr of imr 4831
I have yet to shoot anything with them but should work slick on deer and coyote

I have no personal experience with the chambering, but results of running the numbers through QuickLoad software indicate that H4350 would be a nice fit for this bullet and chambering.

Ramshot Hunter and Ramshot Big Game show excellent potential also.

I've found that recommendations and predictions generated by this software are amazingly accurate. When I'm working up a new load, I generally first try the recommended powder. I've not yet had to search further.

Thanks Guys!!

I'll give the 4350 a whirl. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/tongue.gif Just happen to have two full jugs sitting here with 25-06 written all over them. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif

I'll let you know how they do, /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grinning-smiley-003.gif Dave
