.25-06 bullet and powder preference

Good morning! I’m going to be getting my old coyote hunting partner’s model 70 25-06 in the near future. One reason that I have guns is to create accurate loads for them. He’s been using Winchester factory 90 grain bullet loads for years, but I like to tinker with hand loads so here’s my question: what’s your favorite 90 grain bullet and favorite powder for 25-06?

Thanks!

I have had good luck with Sierra 90gr and IMR 4350 powder. May try H4831 with the same bullets this year, but hate to mess up a good thing.

Cant help you with the 90's. My Vangaurd S2 will shoot ragged holes with 80grn Barnes TTSX and Reloader 17. My 700 CDL will do the same thing with the 80's with Varget and H4831 (max loads with both).

Thanks for the info, folks. I think I’ve got some of all of those powders except RL17, so I’ve got something to start out with as soon as I get some bullets.

I shot the barrel out of one Remington with IMR 4350 and Sierra 90g BTHP, very accurate.

The last Remington 700 that I had loved a load of 87g Speer spt. with a hot load of IMR 4350 with Win brass and Win primers, bullets seated .060 off the lands. This was the most accurate load I ever shot in any of my 25/06's I had over the year. This particular rifle also LOVED the 100g Speer btsp with 100g BTSP with a hot load of R#19.

Just DON’T mix up load data between IMR and H versions of 4831.
Over 40 years ago, the reloading book I had only showed it by number.
It meant Hodgdons,
I can tell you IMR -4831 is significantly hotter.
