i just got a rem .257 roberts...what grain should i shoot..i got a box of the p+ in feds, 115grain..need help in choose a grain and brand..

Assuming this is for antelope & deer size animals, I'm a guy that prefers the "heavy for caliber" bullets, so go with a 110-120. Like a Barnes Triple Shock (TSX) 115, Nosler 115 or 120 Partition, Hornady 110 Interbond and there are others I've missed. With any of these you should be good out to 300 yds. They also do a fine job on coyotes!

I don't know much about factory ammo, but I've good luck with 100 grain TSXs and 120 grain Hornady Corelokts, and mediocre luck with 120 grain Sierra Gamekings. I tried loading 110 grain Hornady Interbonds because I thought they'd be the cat's meow, but they sprayed a pattern with every powder I tried. I've had excellent results with Hornady SSTs in my 6.5x55, which launches them at similar velocities to the .257. I suspect they would work well in your rifle. Take a look at Hornady ammo (Light Magnum maybe?).

I kind of figure most 25 caliber bullets are made tough enough for a 25-06 since it is more popular. So I would be likely to try a Hornaady interlock softpoint.

My 257 bob loves the LM 117 SST HORNADY as factory loads They kill like a hammer But reloads the new barnes 80gr TSX is the stuff it shoots half inch and drops yotes in there tracks If you dont load try the lm hornadys

I didn't know P+ loads also came for rifles, I thought it was just pistols. Live and Learn

It sounds like you don't reload, and right now it's a terrible time to start; so if your relying on Factory rounds it's not a bad time, if you can find some. Save your brass.

Usually cartridges with heavier bullets (100gr to 120gr) are used a lot for deer, whereas if you can find lighter bullets (

Used to have a custom Rem 722 with a Buhmiller barrel in 257R and a nice custom on an Ariska action 257R also, 100gr Partitions and 117gr Hornady RN's were the ticket for deer. Shoot 250 Savages now and 100gr partitions work for me. Looking seriously at the 80gr TTSX also.

As has already been said for deer sized game the 100 to 120 grain bullets are the way to go. Use a good quality bullet your rifle shoots well.

Lots and lots of deer are killed each year with a .243 and 85 grain bullets so a bullet in the 100, 117, 117 and 120 grain range will work well. I heard Barnes was coming out with an 85 grain TSX in .257 last year but I have not seen it.
