270 Win Brass - Nosler vs Hornady

Okay, so I just purchased a SS Tikka in the 270 Win and need to buy brass and there are not that many choices. I had always heard good things about Nosler brass (made by Norma) and had even had good luck with a box of it for my 243. I got onto Midway USA to buy a couple of boxes and the reviews for the 270 Nosler brass were not very good. A couple of guys talked about loose primer pockets. Was it just a bad lot? The reviews for the Hornady brass were actually better. I have never been a fan of Hornady brass but was thinking of giving it a try. Has anyone on here had any good/bad experiences with 270 Win brass in the Nosler or Hornady? Which is likely to be better?

By the way, this rifle will be a hunting weapon not benchrest but would still like to be as consistent as possible.
 
I've had good luck with plain old Winchester brass. I couldn't give Nosler what they want in price when I buy Lapua .308 for cheaper.

Lapua does not make brass for the 270. I wish they did.

I was in Cabelas last night and they had Winchester brass for $27 for fifty. I was so tempted to just buy a couple of packages and call it done.
 
Win brass is great for the money. Nosler and Hornady are too, but they're different. Hornady tends to be softer than most, not lasting as long before pockets loosen up. I still shoot a lot of it, recognizing I won't get the life out of it.

If you're loading for the bench, then high end brass is warranted. If you're loading for the field, it's incredibly rare to find realizable value out of the increased cost of premium brass.
 
The very best 270 brass is formed brass from Lapua 30/06 brass or PMC if you can find it. I have stellar luck with Winchester and Remington brass.
 
Yep.
Im shooting half MOA @ 500 yards with win brass & 130 Bergers.
If I was starting all over, I would buy lapua 06 brass & neck it down.
