Anyone have pet loads for an 06 ? I have toyed around with 4064 an BLC 2 in 150 grain bullet weight but i am still not happy, I think it can do better.
52.5g of IMR 4064 with a 150g is extremely accurate.
A load that is just as accurate is 59.0-59.5g of IMR 4350 with a 150g.
Your gun may not like the choice of 150g that you have tried. More guns will shoot a flat base better than a Boat Tail, you just have to try them and see.
i got 5 shots (at 100yds)to touch with barnes fmj125gr and imr 3031 for the powder. I was hoping they would work on coyotes a little better but they still make a mess
A nice warm charge of that IMR 4350 and 155 gr Amax's with standard Winchester primers and LC brass has been good for me on paper. Can't say about terminal performance with the Amax's for big game, but clay pigeons don't break or shatter, they just "poof". I'm hoping for a chance to try them on woodchucks..."play misty for me baby" /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif
G money I thought about loading some 125,s for groundhogs but I worry about such a light bullet in a gun that size, seems like it would be hard on the bolt as well as the barrel. Well I got some good suggestions I will let you know how it work out

Hi Stan,
I like a 180g Sierra Game king with 57.5 grains of IMR 4831. Performs real well in my Rem 700.

What do you intend to shoot? That is more what you want to know. For instance one of my pet Deer loads for the "06 is the Hornady 150 Grn BTSP #3033 over 49.0 Grains of Varget or with a 165 Grn BTSP 47.0 grains of Varget For Elk or other large deer I like a heavier bullet The 180 Grn BTSP #3072 over 47 Grns of IMR 4064 or the 190 Grn BTSp over 48.5 Grn H 414
For light varment bullets or light thin skined game the 130 Grn #3021 SP, SSP over 48.2 Grn of IMR 3031 for 3000 fps
My favorite "windy day" sage poodle load is: 57.0grs IMR 7828SC, 220gr. Sierra MatchKing, Fed. 210 primer and Lapua brass. I get 2715fps from a 28" Kreiger tube. I really like to catch the little rats clustered on a mound with this load. Just aim a few inches short of the mound and enjoy the fireworks.
WLR primer, 57.0 gr H4350, and either a 165 gr Sierra Game King, or 165 gr Rem CoreLokt. I went to Hodgdon 4350 for temperature insensitivity. 165's just seem to work well on everything, including big elk !
