If I get a 30-06 what rate of twist should I try to find? Im guessing I just takle what I can get cause I cant custom order one and I know nothing about barrel changing. Im wanting one that will handle bullets on the heavy end on the 06 spectrum. That brings up anpther ? what is the heaviest 30-06 bullet I could get for reloading? The gun I am looking at is a Rem 700 CDL.
Thanks for any input.

1 in 10" should do you just fine. You can go clear up to a 240gr in a Woodleigh or a Sierra bullet. I would recommend 180 or 200 grain hunting bullets in the 30-06, if you go with the real heavy bullets you lack the velocity for the longer shots. Just my opinion though.

Ernest- i shoot 50.5 of varget and a 168 berger. not sure what you are shooting at. if you go to rifleman's journal- German has done a lot of work/articles on the 30-06. roninflag
