30 Rem. AR Uppers?

I picked up three boxes of factory ammo for the brass from a guy on gunbroker last year. Seems like a nice little case. I have an Encore 22" Bull barrel on the way. Has anyone seen anybody offering complete uppers with barrels chambered in this round? Dont really want to buy a whole R-15. If big green would get off their collective butts and produce some brass, I bet this round would catch on. 6mm and 25cal wildcats would be fun.
I wonder if BHW would chamber an AR barrel for me if I sent them a reamer?? I'll call Carl on Monday.

Based on .223 lower. I've been waiting for Remington to sell the camo upper so I could put it on my R-15. I picked up a Sturgis Rally magazine last summer with a full page color Remington ad on the .30 AR Remington that stated uppers will be available separately. I called Remington customer service (more than once hoping I could get a more knowledgeable person) and was told both times that uppers may be available sometime in the future. Both reps seemed surprised that this ad was even printed...

Im not worried about buying a complete I was mor looking at buying a barrel and putting one together. Any issues I would run into or should it just go like a 223 build?

The R-15 build is very light and handles very well. I have one upper from DPMS but have not fired it yet, I'm going to have it painted this summer. There's a lot of reloading data for this cartridge and it shoots very well, I would say its slightly more powerful than a 30/30 round. One slight negative is the brass made by Remington.... overall its a joy to shoot and very accurate in my experience.

Yeah, my Encore barrel will be here long before I will have my AR build together. Does DPMS make the whole rifle for Remington or just the upper assemblies?
I occasionally see complete R15s on gunbroker for $940 or so and DPMS appears to be listing their uppers for $899.

The 300OSSM from Olympic Arms has a lot more power in the same size package and they have uppers available from the factory.

Look for the "Gamestalker" model. It's right at 30-06 levels of power. They also sell ammo and dies.

IIRC, the .30AR uppers are not standard AR-15 uppers. The bolt carrier pattern is also different, as is the bolt itself. In order to build a .30 AR, you would need the specific parts and would not be able to build it on a standard upper with other standard parts.

IMHO, that is one of the things that is keeping the .30 AR running behind in the caliber race. Anytime you have to have special parts to build something, it becomes a more difficult choice over something that uses standard stuff.
