What powder is everyone using? 300WSM is in a Kimber 84 and the 243 is in a Tikka T3. Just curious as to what powder is working for everyone? Thanks

I don't own the 300 WSM but I do own the 270 WSM Model 70 and the powder of choice for me is MagPro with the Nosler 140 gr Accubond my Model 70 groups this load around 1/2 inch to 3/4 inch for three shots if i do my part. The 243 IMR 4064 is my favorite with the Swift 90 gr Scirocco with my Montana 99 grouping this load around 1/2 for three shots, this rifle was barrel by PacNor with their best match barrel.

No, Rel 22 is a little to slow in my opinion and believe Rel 15 would be a better choice. Some say MagPro works well with heavier bullets in the 243.

Nothing like at least three or four good reloading manuals to get you up to date. Three good ones would be Nosler, Hornady, and Speers and if you plan on loading Barnes X-bullets then don't leave out the New Barnes manual with their Triple-Shock data.

Reloader 22 is 7mm mag magic.

I load some 300 WSM's for a friend of mine. His gun likes 62.5 grains H380 over Federal GM215M's, 165 Nosler Partition. It's definitely not the fastest powder for that bullet but shoots well. Tried Win 760 in it with no success.

H380 is listed for several bullet weights for the .243 Winchester also.

I have heard that H380 is a bit temp sensitive.

Hope this helps.

Ill run that by the wifey.....Do you think she would bite?.....But honey I have this powder just sitting around, I better buy a new gun so it doesnt go to waste! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif

I have run a couple thousand rounds down the tube of my Rem 6mm back in the 70's and i used nothing in my 6mm for Groundhog hunting except The Sierra 75 gr HP with H380 and my rifle loved it, plus it runs through the powder measure like water, great powder for the 6mm .

Varget for the light bullets in .243 and RL-19 for the heavy bullets. As for the 300, try a shot of H4350 with some 180's.

I use H4350 in the 300WSM with 165 & 180 grn bullets. In the 243 I use the same with 95 & 100 grn bullets & H4895 with 70 grn bullets. I did load some 150grn lighter loads in the 300wsm with H4895. It works for me.

Dang! Then what is RL22 good for? I just bought a pound of it.

I found RL22 and a 165/168 Barnes bullet, shoots sub MOA
in my 300 WSM. So if you have a 300 WSM, you definitely
should work up some loads with RL22.

As for the 243, I don't own one, since I am on the 6mm Rem.
side of the great 243/6mm debate. For my 6mm Rem., VV N160
puts 65 gr. Vmax bullets into itty bitty groups.
