.338 Lapua Improved

Made the mistake of walking into my gunsmiths the other day. Started talking to him and walked out having put money down on a CZ Action and .338 Lilja barrel he had.
About year 2000 I purchased a Brno 602 in .375 H&H, pulled the barrel and ordered a .338 barrel blank from Paul Marquart, a .338 Lapua Improved Reamer from Clymer (it actually may have been the first Lapua Improved Reamer that they made) if not it was close. I ordered a McMillan stock and had my smith put it together. Well I ended up selling it but have always regretted it so he is building me another one. I actually intend to hunt with this although it will be a bit heavy.
I am considering sending it to (American Hunting Rifles, Inc) for a stock, they are a bit heavy but if memory serves me right so was the McMillan. I still have the reamer and brass but let the dies go with the rifle so will need to fire form some brass and redo that process.
If any of you have a suggestion on an alternative stock feel free to chime in. I could also order a stock from CZ I guess, but not sure if they offer a synthetic

I'm sure you will love it. Are you having it throated for the 300's.

To bad I didn't know you were considering a 338 Lap Imp. I have a full custom built on a BAT Lilja barrel MCM A5 thats only had 11 through it I'm selling. Could have saved all the wait time.

all depends on how you are gong to use the rifle. bench, prone or alternate positions. if it is a truck to bench gun the weight doesnt matter much but if you plan on walking 2 miles to a good spot then ounces add up.
i have become a chassis fan with a magazine. the amount of adjustments that can be made to make the stock fit you not the other way around is really not found on "classic" stocks. they are also made of plastic and/or aluminum so there are no worries about weather. they take rattle can paint well when the seasons change, plus they do hold their resale very well.
chassis weight a little bit more but i find them worth the weight.

a guy i used to train with once told me...if the rifle is too heavy done some push ups.
