357 magnum

Can I use any rifle powder for 357 with 158 grain bullets? I also have a can of Accurate N1000 powder. Can I use that? If not, anyone in the Richmond va area have a can of pistol powder they wanna trade?

Umm no dont blow yourself up. Go to hodgdons website or whatever you want to use and look up and see what powders are listed. 158gr jacketed bullets i like alliant 2400.

I use H110 and Longshot powder in 2 different 357 loads. If you use rifle powder in your 357, you might see the fireworks before the 4th of July.

H110 yields a full magnum load in the .357 mag. You will notice it since it's a fist full of recoil and also a good sized flash from the barrel when fired. You probably won't want to shoot it a lot, and you need a strong handgun for such a load.

Be careful to follow the manuals and begin at a lower powder charge and work your way up.

For a good medium load, take a look at Unique. It works well for a variety of pistol cartridges and is more pleasurable to shoot.

I don't load much straight wall anymore. I have worn out one .44 Magnum and aint never going to wear out another. But I do still like to shoot my .38 Specials and .357 Mags a bit. Lots more friendly to me than those booming .44's are. And even though I don't load them and shoot them as much as I once did I was always able to find a load that would shoot well with old Hercules 2400. Unique too, but used that more in .38 Special cases.

Lots of good powders for the .357 Mag. A whole lot of them. But 2400 and the .357 just go back a long long ways.

That makes way to much sense, stop it.
