It's been very dry so we decided to try for some hogs out on a ranch that has a perenial spring. This spring causes about a 100 acre bog/field. We got there at 4:30 and spotted a sounder of at least 10. As we were sneeking up on them a second sounder of 8 came out on the other end of the field. We got within about 20 yards of the first sounder, but the grass was too tall to see the 40-50 pounders. Finally a larger one stepped out and I dropped him with the 7 mag, my buddy dropped one of the smaller ones. It was very chaotic, little pigs running everywhere, but no more hit the ground. We decided since it was early, we would gain a little elevation and overlook the bog. A couple hours later, two pigs came by directly below us. My buddy and I shot at the same time, 1 boar and 1 sow. We were taking pictures and getting ready to clean them when I looked up and saw another pig. We made our way thru the cattails and I had a clear shot. We heard the bullet hit, but the hog ran off into some very thick catclaw. We looked for blood, nothing, and decided to wait until morning to find him. We found him this morning about 30 yards from where we stopped looking. Double lungs with 140gr. Barnes TSX and never bled a drop until where he fell. Biggest pig I have seen out here. We had seen this boar a few times before, but never got a shot. His bottom cutters were 3 inches.
