I usually use a patch & round ball because they are more accurate than the maxi-ball. I was thinking about the Buffalo Ballet which is a ball with flat base - the wt. is in between a ball and maxi. Does anyone have experience with these?

Thanks

I shoot TC maxi-ball, TC maxi-hunters as well as Buffalo Bullets in a TC Hawken 50 cal.
I have the exact opposite problem, conicals shoot well and round balls are not consistent. I gave up on round balls about 20 years ago.

In all of these I shoot only 350 grain bullets on top of 90 grains of Pyrodex Select with CCI hot-shot caps.

It is devistating on deer...they flip over when hit.

The Hornady hollow-points shot well but were too destructive on deer. It looked like a gallon of blood was thrown behind a hit deer.

What is the rate of twist? 1 in 48 or 1 in 66. Most TC's are the 48, but there are some in the 1 in 66 range (the PA Hunter for example). If you have the slower twist, round ball is probably the best, but the faster twist is a compromise and will sometimes offer decent accuracy with multiple projectiles.
