I recently sold my last two 6mm guns, with plans to build another 6x47 Lapua. That may be on the back burner, not sure, as I have a barrel blank on order.
In the mean time, I have a 6.5x47 Lapua built on a 700, Brux barrel, McMillan stock, with a Nightforce on top. With thermals taking most of my interest, I thought maybe on pursuing the light bullet option in 6.5.
The four in mind are:
Hornady 95 grain VMax 1.105" long .361 BC
Hornady 100 grain ELD-M 1.240" long .385 BC
Lapua 100 grain Scenar 1.252" long .424 BC
Sierra 107 grain Tipped Machking 1.205" long .455" BC
Anybody have direct feedback on any or all of the above?
I'll assume the 95 will be the fastest & messiest.
The 107 SMK, with that BC wins downrange, and the 77 counterpart has a good following with the deer/antelope crowd, so hopefully will carry over.
Scenars are generally a little tougher.
Hornady's generally the easiest to find in stock.
Hide welfare is not a concern at this point.
