6.5 wsm

Anyone have hands on experience with the 6.5 wsm? I have googled the critter, I just want to hear the good, bad and ugly from the folks who are using it. Thanks

It's probably hard to find brass. Like all WSM and WSSMs. Other than that it should be a great round

I have a 6.5 GAP ( SAUM ) and love it. I'm getting 3100 FPS with 140 SMK's. Accuracy is under .5 and load development took exactly 25 rounds to find a load.
Rumor has it that Hornady is going to produce brass and loaded ammunition in the near future.

I also have a 6mm WSM. It's a little tough on barrels but if you are looking for a long range predator rifle this one is tough to beat. It will push an 87 grain bullet right at 4000 FPS

The 6.5 WSM is also called the Leopard.
Had one for about a decade now. Honestly not ubber awesome at anything. Case capacity is essentially the same as the 264 WM. And as you would imagine, velocities are the same with equal pressures.

6.5 SAUM (GAP 4s) is becoming very popular and from what I have seen from the few I have been around they fulfill the hype. 130 Berger loads going around 3300 FPS and getting 2000+ rounds out of a barrel.

If you like the 6.5 caliber try the 6.5 x 47 lapua. Deer size game to 500 and steel to 1000 no problem.
