60-65 Grain .243 Winchester Predator Loads?

I am using a stainless Tikka T3 Lite in .243 Win for coyotes this year. I have a load worked up using Seirra 60gr HP Varmiters moving about 3600fps. Anyone have any experience with these bullets? What velocities are working best for harvesting coyotes?

Also, I was thinking of switching to 65gr VMax, what speeds are you guys driving these for yotes? I think I'd like the VMax better, a little more mass behind them.

I'm looking for a good DRT load and best bullet performance, I dont want it breaking up and leaving a superficial wound, or punching strainght through without doing anything.

Thanks!

I use the 65 grain v max out of my 243wn 12fv savage. I don't have a chronograph but these are loaded to near max velocities by the books. I have had very few runners with this bullet. I have shot coyotes as close as 15 yards with very little hide damage and as far as 350 yards with huge entrance holes. Seems to really very from dog to dog. Straight on chest shot always have good results, but any other shots seem to vary greatly as to the amount of hide damage. I am usually not worried about the pelt so I love this load because they almost always drop in their tracks.

65 grain vmax and 40.5 grains of varget has been quite accurate in 3 243s I have tried the load in. This was using a Win case and primer.

We shot a lot of yotes in Mexico using the 60g Sierra out of various 243's and 6mm Rem's. The 60g Sierra HP in the 243 is one of the very best bullets out there, DRT,with small holes.

Use the 60g Sierra's with extreme confidence.

Also, they don't foul the barrel badly either!

I have been using 65g v-max in my .243 driven by 34.5 grain of imr 3031. I have been shooting them out of a rugar m-77 compact. I don't have a crony so I am not sure of the speed but they have been very accurate.

My son is shooting 65grn VMaxs over 40.2grns of Varget at around 3500fps out of his Model 70. His had excellent luck with them. He's taken coyotes with it at over 450yrds and they were DRT. It's an excellent set up. They do leave a nasty hole at times though depending on if you hit any bone. I've been trying to talk him into giving the Sierras a go as I shoot them out of my .22-250 but I dont think his into trying anything else....

Good Huntin'
Tim
