69 GR or 77 GR Sierra MK's

I was thinking about going with the 69 Gr MK's until some chimed in on another post and now have me undecided between the two. I have a 24" 1:9 twist barrel. I talked to Sierra and they sugested going with the 69GR because of the velocity difference. I would like to hear from people who shoot one or the other. They will be for 300 to 600 yards target shooting only.

The 69 Serria and the 68 Hornady are both suitable for that use. Bet you can't tell the difference in the groups.
I don't have any Serria projectiles, but I can send you a few Hornady 75's to try if you like.

Sierra recommends a 1:8 twist or faster for 77's. Unless you are driving them ridiculously fast out of something at a high density altitiude (unlikely in MI), you are probably going to want to stick to the 69 grainers. If you had a 1:8 twist barrel, I would recommned the 77's as they buck the wind better. I messed with 70 grain Bergers and they are best of both worlds on paper - high BC of 77 SMK, with velocity of 69 SMK. I was trying them in an AR though and could never get real good accuracy. I speculated it was because they had to be loaded to AR mag length and the bullets had too much jump. If you are shooting a bolt gun and are serious about performance (the Berger's are quite a bit more expensive) you might give them a look.

I decided to go with the Sierra MK in the 69 GR seeing they are nade for a 1:9 twist barrel. Does anyone know if someone sells these in 25 or 50 qty? I would like to try some and see how they are with my gun before ordering 100 of them.

Pm me with your address and I'll send you a hand full of you want. I was running the 69gr Mosley custom comp and traded off the rifle I was shooting them out of so now I got about 700 to dump out of my 1-8 twist AR barrel.

With your set up, you will enjoy the 69's.

I contacted Sierra and they sent me 15 of the 69MK so I loaded 5 with 25 GR of RL 15 and 5 with 25.3 GR RL15. I will shoot them in the morning 300 yards and see how they group.
