6ARC gas gun bullet choice

Hello everyone,
I was curious what bullet everyone was using for their 6ARC gas rifles. I am shooting the 75 grain V-max bullet and it shoots well. I got the gun thinking I would never shoot over 300 yards but I have found myself on 3 occasions now having coyotes hung up between 4 and 5 hundred yards. I don't normally like to shot that far but this last one I threw the kitchen sink at it. Called for 20 minutes, prey distress of all kinds, coyote pup distress, coyote vocals, and it moved from 520ish to 400 hundred yards never coming any closer. I could have probably moved closer but I guess hindsight is 20/20, and I was worried I would scare it away. My partner gave it an honest try but we just educated him. I know 6 ARC can deliver the round to 400 yards, I just need to practice, but I'm doubting the bullet performance at that distance. Is anyone shooting 6 ARC, at that distance, at coyotes? What bullet are you using? What powder? How is the performance? I'm probably asking for too much, but I figure if anyone is doing it, I'll find them here. Anyway, thanks for reading this far and thanks for the help.

Not 6ARC, but am shooting my 6DTI with 75 Vmaxs @ 3150, have had bang/flops at over 300. Have been planning to switch to 70 Blitzkings when the Vmaxs are used up, but honestly the 75s shoot very well and are effective. I suppose if you are planning for 400+ yd shooting, would load some 87 Vmaxes.

I'm a fan of the 87 v-max out of my 243 LBC (6 ARC equivalent). The 80 ELD-VT would be a good choice too. It's got a slightly higher BC than the 87, and you should be able to run it faster too.
I think any of these bullets (including the 75) will kill a coyote just fine at those ranges. The issue is making the hit. You need to know your dope and read the wind. The 80 ELD-VT, due to its high BC, would give you a little more margin for error.

I'm a big fan of the 87 vmax, and 87 bthp from Hornady, which is an extremely accurate bullet. BUT, if my 9 twist 243's would stabilize the 80 VT, I would try it. It needs an 8 twist. Like SY said, both higher bc and higher velocity is a win-win, which is the whole idea behind those eld-vt's.

I also like 87's. The VLD's are the best deer bullet and Vmax or HPBT hornady's work great on varmints. I'm running this kinda light to get max brass life, But I'm getting 2750 in a 14.5 and 2950 out of my 20". I found a load with 75 grain Vmax and 27 grains of IMR3031 that shoots under half MOA out of my 16" ARC at just a shade over 3K. It could be hotter, but it shoots great and I'm on 5-6 firings on some of my older brass.

So I did a load work up using the load data on the Hodgdon website. Using CFE223 I worked my way up loading 5 rounds at a time and approached their max. This is not completely done, but it's promising. It grouped pretty well but I need to take a picture of the target. My chronograph was too far away and I missed the first shot. Load was 32 grains of CFE223.

Edit: I am using an 18inch barrel and a suppressor.

Champ198 are you loading these bullets, if so with what powder?
Sorry for the late reply.
I have factory loads now with the Hornady Match with the 108s.
I do have some bullets ready to load and will be giving them a try. Plan to use Varget with them.
Lever seems to get more velocity but I hear it can be a bit of an issue with temp swings. Which I don't want.
Just haven't got a chance to really do much with it yet.

I shoot an ARC, 6mm-204 and 6x45 and I'd think that any of the mid-weight tipped or varmint HPs will work. I'd spend the to me and shoot them to that range and put together a drop chart for it and not reley printed drop tables from bullet companies.

Ranging distances on your stand is essential, once you get out there a ways it is hard to be accurate even worse if your a fisherman too.
