6mm arc bullet choices… reloading

Built an AR in 6mm arc with a cmmg 20" 1:7.5 twist. i reload and not sure that i want to spend the money on shooting factory rounds as the selection is limited. trying to keep my velocity up above 2600FPS or around there.

any recommendation for bullet. I'm considered the berger 88 gr varmint,95 gr nosler Ballistic tip, and the 90 grain eld-x. i'll be shooting predators at a max of 300-400 yards to.

not sure how the eld-x will perform on coyotes. any help would be appreciated

I'd try the 87 vmax first, that's just a great bullet that flies great well beyond your stated ranges. And I've seen them available online here and there. I've never shot the eld-x but I'm sure it will kill a coyote just fine also.

I actually just picked up some 70 gr varmageddon bullets but nosler or hogdon doesn’t offer any load data for a 6mm arc gas gun.

Guess I’ll use the Hornady data to start somewhere between the 65 and 75 grain bullets

The Varmageddons are extremely effective and almost, if not just as, accurate as the Ballistic Tips. However, I can't recommend them if your intention is to save fur. Shots in the 300-400 yard range that you mentioned should be fine. Of course all of this depends on how well your 7.5 twist like the 70 grainers

I'm on my third 6 ARC barrel, and none have shot 70's, either SBK's or BT's, to my satisfaction.

However, the last two have been great with 87 grain Bergers.

I run a proof research carbon 6mm ARC barrel on one of my AR’s. It’s a 1-7.5” twist and it loves the 70 gr nosler BT over benchmark powder. I shot a few coyotes with the eld-x and didn’t like the results. I think the eld-x bullet construction is just a little too tough for coyote sized game.
