HELLO

I SEEN THIS: http://accuracysystemsinc.com/ar15_conversion.html

AND THOUGHT IT WOULD BE A GOOD IDEA IN 6MM PPC MAYBE. ITS SUPPOSED TO HAVE A .243WIN PERFORMANCE (CLOSE ANYWAYS) AND ID LIKE A LITTLE MORE WHOMP ON THEM YOTES.

WHAT DO YOU FELLAS THINK ? SUPPOSE IT WOULD LOAD OK IN THE MAGAZINES OR JAM OR WHAT ? WOULDNT BE NO GOOD ON YOTES IF IT DIDNT CYCLE RELIABLY, HUH ?

HEARD ANY RUMORS ON THIS COMPANY ? DIDNT SEE NOTHING ON IT ON AR15.COM SO IM ASKING YOU FELLAS

THANK YOU VERY MUCH

Welcome to the board TF! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

I am sure you did not realize it but all caps is considered rude on a bulletin board. It also makes your post harder to read.

Never had chance to try one yet, but check out www.ar15barrels.com ,Randall sells all kinds of barrels in lots of caliber choices. Very nice stuff! I'm building an upper in .17 REM now, the 6PPC is next!!! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

thank you and sorry

so what have you guys heard about this 6mm PPC running though a AR-15 for yotes ?

reliable feeding ? any issues ? any experience from you fellas ?

like I say Im intersted in puting some extra whomp on them yotes and this seems like the ticket for an AR-15.

read on place where this combo was used in competition even

Welcome to the board Todd,

For what it is worth, I have never seen one in 6PPC that did not jam quite often. If you find someone that can build one that is 100%, let me know. Anything can be put together but having it work is another story. I would ask for references and check them out to see if they are having problems.

I heard you got to use 7.62x39 magzines with a single round follower plate to put the ammo in the centr lines for good consistant feeding. Supposed to make a big diferance

were the ones you seen doing that ?

There were three of them shooting in a high power match. Never got through a stage without jams. They were shooting custom space rifles with the 62x39 mags. This is not to say that someone has not figured out how to make this round feed by now. Just wanted to advise the fact that just because you see it for sale does not mean it will work. I would do the references thing. Unless he gives you his buddies, most will tell the truth. Let me know how it turns out???

There is nothing more embarassing than screwing up the rapid fire stages. Masters and High Masters do NOT like to loose points that way.

Jack

can't speak for AR's but I have a mini-30 in 6 PPC that feeds almost flawlessly. mags have had the feed railos altered to keep cartridge centered while loading.

Suppose a 1 in12 twist on a 16 in barel will be long enough to stablize the bullet ok ? 75grn bullets probly.

See your point steve. same reason I came here to ask about it. independnt survey you know. Id be mad if it didnt feed right when I got a chance at two yotes.

the same company makes mini14s that shoot 1 moa. I figure he must be a religous fella.

anyone else hear anything on the 6mm PPC in a semi-loader ?

thanks

Ridge Runner,

heck your magzine should work in a AR too. Where did you get your magzine ? If you built it yourself or it was custom, what parts did you use specifcally to get it to be center feed.

thanks

factory 5 and aftermarket 10 rounders here, no they won't work in an AR. The lips are bent slightly to adjust for the different shoulder angles.
RR

I hear ya Jack!! The rifles did shoot pretty well when they were working!

I have seen the Mini claims too but the one's that I shot would not do it consistently. With good ammo, just about any AR will do 1 MOA and you are not spending the type money to make the mini only just as good. No MINI on earth will stay with an AR including custom ones. If someone has one, please let me know. What to check it and builder out! I wished they would. Love the feel of the MINI's.

At one time Springfield Armory was gonna put out a M1A version in .223. Don't know what happened to that one. Would have been interesting. There were prototypes that worked once upon a time!!

Something to keep in mind.
Anyone thinking about getting an AR in any caliber with a case head bigger than the 223, make sure the maker is not just opening up the stock AR bolt. A lot of people have tried it and it does not work. The bolts fail, some sooner, some later. To use a bigger case head, a different bolt and barrel extension must be used.

Jack

a AR bolt in 7.62x39 though is the right case head size for a 220 russion which is what the 6mm PPC is made of right ?

so that bolt will work right ? Im jus asking.

thanks

It will work if it is a bolt designed for the bigger case head. It will not work for long if it is just the standard AR bolt opened up. There is no extra material on the AR bolt face for a bigger head size. Opening it up will cause fatigue failure of the locking lugs.

Make sure of what you are getting before you buy. I would demand a bolt drawing with dimensions before buying.

Jack
