6mm Rem. & Hornady 100gr. BTSP

I just recived 100 free bullets from Hornady for buying there powder measure, FYI works good. Need load data for 6mm Rem 700 BDL. Would like to use on deer this fall. Has anyone used this bullet .243 Hornady 100gr. BTSP ? What is the longest deer kill shot you have made with it Hornady 100gr. BTSP ? Thinking about useing it in Montana for deer this fall.

I have personally used and loaded for others the .243/6mm 100 gr. Hornady Interlock on deer. It's a fine bullet and does good work. It is accurate, gives good expansion, and penetrates well enough depending upon velocity and what it hits. All in all a very good deer bullet for the .243/6mm class of cartridges. Load data is available from the various powder and bullet makers online at their respective websites.

Try IMR-4350 or some of the slower powders. My 6mm killed 11 deer one year, all one shot kills. Five one day. I think the longest shot I've made with mine is (too far to post).

Three years ago, I called in a buck outside of Dodge City Kansas for a youngster. At 325 yards the buck stopped dead in his tracks in the middle of a cut corn field.

The shot was slightly facing/quartering shot. The 100g Hornady BTSP broke the left front shoulder, and was lodged under the hide in the middle of the rib cage on the off side. The 200 lb buck took one step and fell over.

H4350, start off at 42.3g and work up increasing powder charge in 0.5grain increments, in 3 shot groups, with a Winchester primer, bullet seated to just barely touch the lands...you are going to be a very happy camper.

I have used this bullet in the 234 Win, but not the 6mm Rem.

No really long shots, though. All 1 shot kills. It is a very good deer bullet, IMO......
