6mm rem quick load

I picked up a 6mm rem a while back from a fellow member and I have yet to play with it. Im wondering if someone with quickload can run some numbers using 70 and 75gr sierra hp as well as 87gr hornady hp in front of ar comp. Will be using cci LR primers. Rifle is a ruger m77 tang safety heavy barrel 24in (IIRC)

There is no published data for this powder but i have seen some with varget so im thinking it should work just fine but would like to see some computer generated specs for reference.

Thanks

Save yourself some time and just load IMR-4831 with the 70-85 grain bullets. You will get maximum speed and accuracy. For the 55-60 grain bullets use Varget, and for the heavies use IMR-4350.

Lots of years with a 6MM Remington.

Thanks for the info, ill look at my load book and check those powders. I just have a surplus of comp right now and would like to stick with it if it performs.

Here is a good site that lists lots of loads reported by shooters, you will see trends were different people come up with just about the same load

http://www.centerfirecentral.com/viewer.html

I shot the barrel out of two Ruger 77V tang safety, and used the 85g Sierra BTHP, 85g Sierra, and 80g Sierra Single shot pistol bullet all with a max load of IMR 4064 with a Fed 210 primer at 3400 fps+.

For the 87g, for max velocity with accuracy, R#19 should be at the top of your list along with Win primers, max load for the rifle turned out to be best in several, 3350 fps.

IMR 4064 is the go to powder as has been stated. I really like the 65 gr V-max, win cases and WLR primers. Turns coyotes to jelly on the inside and often doesn't exit.

thanks for the input guys. I was able to get some generic quickload for the comp and the numbers are looking pretty decent to me. I actually just got done comparing burn rates of different powders and in my hornady book is showing imr 4064 in the # 85 spot with ar comp in the #88 spot on the burn chart.

Im going to try out the comp since I have it on hand and if it doesnt perform then Ill have to keep my eye out for something else.

thanks again

IMR-4007ssc is one to look at if all else fails. Good stuff in the 243/6mm. Burn is a skosh slower than 4064.

RL-17 is another. Burns with 4350, but gives a bit better velocity. Those would be my choices.
