Thinking about a 6mm
What is a good one?
I know DTI, I just don't want to wait 6-9 months for a barrel or an upper.
Suggestions?

If it where me i would order a case of brass, dies and bullets before i bought any barrel.

If you plan to use Starline brass, consider an annealing device.

Just checked them out.
$700 for just a barrel with bolt.
Not in my budget.

Not sure what you looked at, but my new barrel will be here tomorrow, exactly 7 weeks to the day, and just under $330 to my door.

No bolt though, and ordered during one of their 20% off sales.

Just the base barrel price with no options is $372
The bolt alone is $200

They have several 20% sales a year, and probably one coming up shortly.

No way I would pay $200 for a bolt.....

Not knowing what you're going to use it for or your expectations for a 6mm are, I'd look seriously at a 6x45mm. I've been shooting one in a bolt action for 25+ years and for predators it is hard to beat. lots of dies, data, brass and should be good for varmints to deer with the right bullet. Just pop in a barrel, same mags and BCG.

The only cons it is boringly simple.

Just got an email, X-Caliber fall 20% off sale starts today....

I'm running a 6mm ARC and I love it, that gets my vote for a 6mm AR platform. With Brass is starting to get a little easier to find, thanks to Starline, and good, budget friendly barrels are widely available.

Another vote for 6 x 6.8. Finally got one together last week using a X-Caliber barrel. Only put 40 rds through it last week just to check function. Next will be load development with 75 V-Max for coyotes and 95 SST for deer. 20" with plus 1 gas length. Started buying Starline brass last spring.
