6x47 lapua for vaminting?

I'd say it's right on practical, just a smidgen behind a 243 and designed to be accurate, top notch brass, great sellection of bullets and should feed well. What more could you ask for?

I think it would handle them pretty well, you have a hard time over stablizing a bullet. Most light 6mm bullets are built with high speed in mind, There are no 6mm equivolent of the 22H or 218 Bee. Most light 6mm bullets are expected to be pushed to 4000+fps. I shoot 40gr bullets out of my 1-9 22-204 and they are hitting 3900fps and very accurate.

I shoot a 6mm-204 a little more potent than a 6mm PPC and a little less than a a 6mm BR and a 243Win they both hand light bullets well. With the correct twist it should handle them well , even with a fast twist it will do well also.

Jacob, the 6x47 will work fine.. I have one with a 10 twist barrel and throated for the varmint bullets.. Make sure your smith understands what it will be used for as most reamers for this caliber are for the large target type bullets..You will need a reamer with a shorter freebore.. IIRC, mine has a 1-30 leade with .050 freebore.. This works well with the 58 throug most 85gr bullets.. I haven't had a chance to play with mine much, but also have a 6BR set up the same way which works fine..I like the 60gr Sierra HP for yotes..

AWS, what bullets are you using on yotes with your BR?

Sorry Hacksaw, I'm shooting a 6mm/204, a 6x45mm and a 243Win. My bullets for the 6x45mm are the 55gr NBT and 55gr BK, 6mm/204 are 55gr BK and 62gr VG and the 243Win 62gr VG, 70gr TNT and SMK.
