i picked up 2 bench rifles last week, one is a 6x47 rem 40xbr factory built. the other is a rem 600 action with a premium douglas 24in 243 barrel. don't know much about the 6x47,but i will resell it i think.

anyone shooting this caliber?

I've never seen or heard of a "factory" 6x47 Lapua built by Rem.
Regardless of who built it, the ones that I have built in the last couple of years are exceptional shooters.

If you are not familiar with the 40X, it is a Remington built rifle but comes from the Remington "Custom Shop". Most are special order.

If it were me, I would shoot both before selling either (if I had to sell one). The 6x47 Lapua is a dandy cartridge & nearly identical preformance to the 243AI but with (usually) better accuracy, less burn, less recoil, less wear. Of the two the 6x47 is much more attractive.

I would sell it if I were you. Cheap. Just got my taxes back by the way. Just kidding, coleridge pretty much summed up everything i've ever heard about the 6x47. I'm in the process of rebarreling a kimber to 6.5x47 at present. Keep it and shoot both, keep the one you like.

Is this the 6x47 Lapua or the 6x47 that is basically a 222 mag necked up to 6mm, kind of like the 6x45 and the 223 cartridge?

I have a couple 6xc's and like them a lot. Lapua is a neat cartridge too.

The upfront cost shouldn't really be a detractor as I have read and heard reports of 20 plus reloadings on x47 lap brass.

Not when its GOOD brass. I'm on about the 38th firering on some Lapua 6BR brass. I bought two boxes back when it was $68/100.

Not very expensive when $136 worth of brass has wore out two $300 barrels!

Bet a dollar to a donut that they are 222 Rem Mags necked up to 6mm, not the Lapua version.

I wore out a 6x47 Improved barrel strictly on prairie dogs. Great performer with 55 BT's and easy on barrels.
