6x6.8 necking

Necking down my cases and right st the top of the case it makes a slight lip or flare. I’ve tried moving it down and up but most come out with that tiny lip. Do I just use the Lyman case prep tool and take off a little brass? Any help? I’m a rookie by the way. Grabbing a reloading book tomorrow. Just trying to make sure I get this right.

That's a common thing on the first neck down. What I do is use a bushing maybe 5 thou bigger, then the correct size, and that mitigates it.

Ah ok. I didn’t think I’d have to do anything but neck them down once since I bought the custom Hornady dies Midwestpredator ordered a while back.

Just run 'em in and go shoot 'em. Ritch now uses the Hornady exclusively to make up his brass in 6X6.8. I have them from CH4D and Redding that also do a good job as a standard type. The Redding was a very special short run for some guy that I heard about,

Well... no bullet shaving when seating. I noticed this on my Hornady dies but maybe not quite to that extent and not on the Redding bushing dies.. If GLshooter can't figure out the cause then I certainly am not even going to attempt to.

Most of them aren’t that bad. Just wanted to show one of the ones that had the most flare. I’d say 80% are no flare. Very weird but I won’t sweat it.
