Sorry for another suppressor question but I am trying to make my final choice on my suppressor. I have narrowed my choices to the 7.62 YHM Phantom QD or Gemtech HVT QD. It will mainly be used on my 6.8 but I plane on threading my 250,swift, and .243, maybe even 7 mag. I have seen a few bad reviews on the QD mounts of the YHM. Are the Gemtech mounts any better? A little input from some users would be great. Thanks, Jason

I have never had any issue with my YHM qd mount. I have a 5.56 and 7.62 YHM can. They are great setups. As for the Gemtech, I,ve only have one of their 5.56 cans. It is a Halo which mounts on a standard birdcage. Both companies make top noch cans. The only advantage that YHM has is that they come with a qd mount. With the Gemtech, you will need to buy it separately.

I dont know what the Bad reviews would be with the YHM QD mount! i have them on 7 rifles and have Never had a Issue with them, dont know about the Gemtech but my YHM 7.62 is rated for 300win mag also.

Gemtech makes a pretty good product if you are going to use it on a 300 wm. I prefer the thread on over the QD though.

The YMH QD mount is rock solid, it just is not pretty. They are also cheaper than the others. I would consider getting the Ti upgrade for that can if I were to do it again, as the SS one is pretty heavy in comparison. Those two you are looking at are pretty comparable in price and weight.

here is something to ponder... the YHM QD method utilizes the mechanics on the flash suppressor, the HVT QD (bi-lock) the mechanics are inside the can... IMHO its a no brainer, you lose the locking mechanism on your YHM you get another 75.00 QD flash suppressor on stand by for a low drag fix... if your mechanics fail you on the HVT your out of commission until your can is fixed, wait time... (priceless)
NOW, on top of thinking about the above, I have owned both suppressors, both suppress well, YHM had better groupings the HVT bi-lock did not, so I sent it back and had the QD internals hacked off and converted to direct thread, which helped the issue.

I new I would get some good info on here. And as luck would have I went to a public range near the house today and there was a guy with a YHM 7.62 QD on a .300 blackout and .308. He was nice enough to let me handle and install the can on both rifles and take the flash hider on and off. He also let me shot regular rounds and sub sonic. I was impressed. Nothing like getting some hands on.Very easy to swap out and very quiet with subs. Looks like I am going to go with the YHM... Thanks guys,

Jason

My FFL just ordered me the 7.62 Phantom Ti. Form 3 is in the works. Form 4 should be underway in about 3 weeks.
I am stoked! Now comes the wait.
The weight of the can is a big issue for me. Not so much on my 15 lb rifle, but very much while on my AR(264 LBC).
I held a SS Phantom in one hand, and the Ti Phantom in the other. That was very helpful for me to decide. The difference was amazing.
Thanks to all of you who offer opinions and info based on your experience. It helps the rest of us make much better purchase decisions.
