7.62x39 Ar-15 upper. SBR Barrel length?

What is the best sbr barrel length? Obviously, I want it shorter the better 7"-10". I am going to put a can on it. I want my overall size to be small.

What kind of accuracy do you get out of a 7-10" barrel at say 100 yards?? What kind of grouping should I expect? I understand different manufacturers will have different results, I am just trying to get an idea of what to expect.

Thanks for the help!!

The accuracy of my 16" is nothing spectacular, I would hate to think what a 7-10" barrel would do, especially suppressed. I am intrigued to see the results of this. I am going to rebarrel mine shortly with a better barrel to try and improve it's accuracy.

Its a 7.62x39 and let me guess your shooting surplus ammo.
The instillation of a quality suppressor will not make bad accuracy worse.

The 7.62x39 is not a cartridge that I would recommend first off. There are much better options out there like 6.8spc or 300 BLK. That being said I wouldn't waste any amount of money on a 7.62x39.

The best length is what works for you when it comes to SBRs.

The SBR that I use for yote hunting is a 11.5 inch and it is suppressed with a Thunderbeast suppressor. 1 and 7 twist. I have others but that is my favorite. It is also a 5.56. Overall length 18.5 inches. Accuracy is sub MOA at 100 yards on mine.

I also have a 6.8 and results are the same. It is what I would recommend over a 7.62x39.

Accuracy will be subject to barrel quality, ammunition and shooter quality. A quality suppressor and concentric thread job will do nothing but improve your accuracy in shooter comfort alone.

Shorter the barrel the louder it will be even suppressed. I would reserve the less than 11.5 inch barrels to urban battle rifles.

You'd be wrong, no surplus and no steel cased.

Yikes you have a problem.
What high quality ammo are you using?
You said you needed a better barrel, what weapon and barrel are you currently using?

I already have 2 300blk sbr's. and was wanting to get another sbr going. I like the price per round of the 7.62X39. that is why I was thinking. This ar upper would be used for primarily close hunting.

I was also thinking of 6.8 but that caliber is more $$ per round and harder to find sometimes depending on current economical status.

Hornady, unknown barrel maker, part of an complete upper from Model 1 sales.

Aero Lower I put together, 3 1/2lb trigger. I am building the next upper from scratch.
