Hey everyone,

I am going to get a upper in this caliber. The question is which one? Radical firearms, psa,? I want one that will run anything. I don't care to have gun that will only run certain types of ammo. Don't say get an sks or ak. I don't like them. What mags should I run. Thanks again.

Hi docjon, I bought a PSA complete upper last year. Their BCG came with the extended firing pin. I have been shooting cheap Wolf military classic, 123 gr. hp. ammo. Also I am using ASC mags. 10 round and 20 rounds. I have not had a single fail to fire or fail to eject. I mounted an old 3x9x40 Leupold and its been right at 1-1/2" groups at 100 yards. I am 68 and don't shoot quite as well as I use to. There seems to be rumors of bolts breaking so I did purchase an extra bolt just in case. Hope this helps.

Blessings.

crowkiller, nice gun, shooting, and group. I may just have to try the Hornady ammo. Is that a PSA bolt carrier in your Radical upper?

Blessings,

I recently got an Anderson complete upper in7.62x39. I got some mil sup ammo with it that shot fine but big groups.
The Hornady ammo does about an inch at 100 maybe less on a good day.Killed a Whitetail at 210 yards with the Hornady and SST bullet. I was surprised at the exit. Much more destructive than I was expecting.
using ACS mags and no jams yet.
I have read that some US manufactured barrels are.308. Most of what I can find says bore diameter is .310.
Does anyone know what Anderson barrels are?
I asked Anderson but have never got a reply.

Blessings, . Yes on the carrier... BTW Midway has a 7.62x39 upper on sale right now with free shipped Deal.

docjon, if you buy a complete upper it should come with a bolt carrier group of whatever brand you buy. If not you can order one separately but it must be for the 762x39. If you have issues with fail to fire you can buy an extended firing pin and put it into your bcg. That helps with the cheap ammo hard primers. My PSA upper came with the extended firing pin. Also sent you a PM.

Hope this helps.

Jim
