7.62x39?

Howa and a few others offer the 7.62x39 in a bolt rifle but they have a .311 bore diameter. The CZ 600 offers the rifle but it has a .308/30 cal bore. Bullet choices are much better with the 30 caliber bore diameter. If you use a standard die set it seems like neck tension would be a little on the loose side. Would one need a bushing die to get correct neck tension? Given the correct neck tension and a good bullet/powder/brass combination, do you think the 7.62x39 "could" be a sub 1" rifle?

I saw his video shooting the CZ. He's shooting factory Remington ammo in this video. I'm curious about reloading and what dies would need to be used for correct neck tension. A majority of 7.62x39 ammo uses a .311 bullet. Not to sure how well that works with a .308 bore and there isn't a lot of bullet choices compared to the .308.

I used to have an AR15 in 7.62x39 from model1sales.com. 20" standard upper, .311 bore.

I shot several sub-1" groups at 100 yards with standard wolf 125gr hp

I reloaded for mine and shot several sub 1" groups as well with brass cased, 125 or 124gr hornady Vmax, and reloader 7 powder if I remember correctly.

I had RCBS dies. Same sizer die worked for .308 and .311, but it came with 2 seperate expander balls. One expanded to .308 and one expanded to .311.

I won a Custom Shop T/C carbine barrel in 7.62x39x.308.
It was for a Contender and was intentionally made .308 bore so you couldn't shoot the high-pressure surplus ammo. There was a ton of it on the market. I used 125 grain bullets, and it was extremely accurate. I still have it. It's great for deer hunting, especially first-time young hunters that are recoil sensitive. I didn't push it but got about 2350 fps from whatever I was loading. Hope this helps.
