I've always been a .223 guy, but I've been looking for a 22-250 & found a older wood stocked Remington 700 BDL Varmint 22-250 24" Heavy Barrel. It looks mint inside & out for $400

Seems like a pretty square deal for my first 22-250

That sounds like a pretty good deal.Be aware of the rifleing. The 22-250 is a fast load and it can burn out barrels.Just because the rifleing looks good,be aware that the throat could be shot out.If you can test fire the gun,i would recomend it.

That's a very good price. The ones I see lately at gun shows are ~95% condition with $600 price tags. I own 2 of these (.222 and .223), and I wouldn't sell either of them for $400.

If you don't want it, let me know. I will take it right now.

Also, welcome to the board Zeb if I have not already told you.

Excellent rifle and sounds like a GOOD price. I don't know about a coyote rifle since if it is like mine it weighs about 12 lbs (that heavy barrel) and the coyote hunting around here always seems to involve a lot of walking. Don't get me wrong it will put a coyote down just as well as any other 22-250 but your fanny will be dragging if you have to carry it very far. If you are headed to the pdog town however grab it first, you will be glad you did. Either way enjoy your rifle.

Steve, I agree with you, it is a deal @ 400.00 . I have learned however that a new 22-250VS is not easy to sell at
$575.00. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif I think it is about time I start shooting it
& then put a Lilja 260 barrel on it.

I don't know about the BDL, but I just picked up a new 22-250 VLS Rem 700, that I had to order for $600 + tax from Sheels. They had a used one for the same price, they probably took my offer hopping "I need it now" walked in soon. My first Rem rifle, nice piece, but really heavy trigger, grey beards like me run out of oxygen waiting for the release.

I got it for for punching paper & Pdogs. I use my .223 LVSF & AR's for Coyotes!! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grinning-smiley-003.gif

They are very adjustable but you need to be very careful with the new ones! They don't adjust very well and will go off when you take the safety off if you are not careful. All of my old rifles have great triggers on them but the new ones are the pitts!

My dad has one and it is the shootingest rifle. He and a buddy when head to head for group size. A 700 BDL varmint in 22-250 and a 220 swift pre-64 Mod. 70.

By the time they were done playing with the loads my dad was ahead with 5 shots smaller than a dime at 100 yards.

No custom work done just reloading workup.

Get it or let me know so I can.

Well..., I went ahead and bought it. Got it for $375

Apparently this one had some work done!!

Turns out it has the sweetest trigger I've ever squeezed on a 700, a very nicely bedded action, and Leupold Dual Dovetail rings & bases!!

I put my 30mm DD rings on it and a VX-III 8.5-25x50mm LRT & off to the range I went. Shooting Winchester USA 45 gr. HP
I threw a couple rounds down range to rough it in and then shot for a group.

.375" @ 100 yds & 1.40" at 200 yds. all five shot groups!

Ding---Ding---Ding----, I think I found a winner!! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/ooo.gif

Wow!!! For that price (especially with the included options and smithing already done to it) you got a sweet deal. That set-up sounds like a PD shooters dream. Congratulations.
