i have one and i once had a wiever scope with a type of mound that screwed onto the top of the gun and the scope interlocked into the mount, i had to turn the scope 90* to remove the scope...

theres 2 different sets of mounting holes on the top of the gun, ive been told the gun is difficult to scope because it needs a long relief and that ill need a 1 piece scope rail instead of the 2 separate ones that u can buy from walmart/kmart since its a 3006

i can post pictures later, but if anyone has this type of rifle and can tell me what setup they have, itd be greatly appreciated !!!

Or you look up the correct leupold mount and ringset in a blister pack from midway or another big internet supplier.

I have one here you can have. No screws though.

Whatever base you buy Weaver,Leupold, Redfield etc. make sure its for a 760, not for 7600. The hole spacing is the same the screws are not. Early production 760's were not drilled and tapped by Rem. I don't know when they began drilling/tapping but they use a 6-48 screw. The 7600's use a 8-48 screw. If your gun is a real early one I would verify the screw size before ordering if your mounting yourself, if not any gunsmith "should" know the difference. You could go to a hardware store and get one of each and try it for fit.

cool guys thankyou for the info. ive been on gun sites and they all tell me using a scope for this gun is pointless or too difficult to do so........

i have pictures of the mount that has been on the gun since my great great grandfather put it on.
