7mm-08 load

Hey there, I received a Ruger American in 7mm-08 for the holidays and just got to trying it out. Bought a few boxes of Superformance 139grn and was impressed with the results.

I plan on using this rifle for hog in Oct in Florida. Should I stick with this factory ammo or attempt dome reloads? If reloads, what are some recipes that have shown MOA or under?

Thanks in advance!

I have had great luck with the hornady 139 gr soft points behind 43 grs of varget Same load shoots under 1 inch in 3 different rifles

Varget seems to be a top choice with the 7mm-08. I doubt if any handloads would do markedly better than the factory ammo you already have. For those of us that like to reload, nothing wrong with doing it.

We can split hairs with bullet types & 3/8" here & there, when shot placement easily trumps it. This assumes one isn't big game hunting with a 'varmint' bullet or FMJ.

With lighter bullets 100-120's i really like varget. For anything 139 on up i really like h4350. I have had 3 different 7-08's over the years and they all have seemed to shoot these 2 powders the best.

Mine likea 130 gr Speer BT w/ Varget and loves the 145 gr Speer BT with Reloader 17. I also shoot a 162 Amax with Reloader 15.

I run 140gr. SGK's with IMR 4064 for deer in mine. Does great on paper and meat out of my Model 7 Remington and my buddies Stevens 200. We both shoot my same loads, gotta love it when it works that way
